Bassel El-Rayes, MD

Bassel El-Rayes, MD, is the chief clinical research scientist responsible for coordinating and providing high-level direction to the clinical cancer research programs and clinical cancer trials across the Emory campus.  His research is on translational projects related to gastrointestinal malignancies, specifically pancreatic and colorectal cancer, to bring observations derived from in vitro models of cancer cell growth to the clinic.  Dr. El-Rayes closely collaborates with basic scientists in studies that target the HSP90, NF-kB cell signaling pathways such as HDAC-6 in pancreatic cancer cells.
